Comfort sleeping at your festival

Whenever friends of mine talk about a festival, the first thing I think of is that I would rather sleep in a hotel than in one of those tents on a festival camping. However, I still like the social benefits of a camping. When I walked around at the Graduation show, Dutch Design Week Eindhoven 2015, my mom said that I needed to take a closer look on a exposed tent. It directly impressed me, yet the function was still unknown to me. 

What is it? 

The tent designed by Emmy Polkamp, called ‘To Many Places’, is as she describes a traveling hotel. Your own little hotelroom at a festival or event. Which you can adjust to your needs when you order it. The tent is simply made, yet it looks quite different from all of those standard festival tents.   

Just another tent isn’t new, but this ‘To Many Places’ tent is new. The tent is a whole new concept for the festival or event tents. Because it gives you lots of luxuries like a hotel. The perfect hotel bed and even the option of having a kitchen or a toilet and a shower. Something that we all could use at most festivals.  

Why is it cool? 

I think the possibility of going to a festival and sleep/live like a stay in a hotel would be perfect. Since a couple of years I would like to experience a festival by going there for a weekend and sleep there. But the stories about all the gross and uncomfortable aspects really scared me away. Yes, my standards might be too high and I might just have to accept the fact that that’s what a festival is like. But since I know To Many Places I think that will be the only way I would sleep at a festival. 

Future growth potential  

I It’s a lot to bring to a festival or event and I doubt if it fits in the budget of the festival visitors. But if these things won’t be a problem. I really think it could succeed for lots of people, as it supplies the comfort of a hotel during a festival.  

Trend 

This ‘To Many Places’ tent fits in the Experience Economy. People will buy the tent for the hotel experience. We can buy just a normal  tent for less.  

Quality of life 

‘To Many Places’ improves your Material wellbeing, and thereby your Quality of Life. I think you will have more privacy in this tent and because of the extra comfort of the tent I am sure you will feel a lot better than after a night on an air mattress.
