It’s a fact that people in a wheelchair have way more obstacles than there should be. But it’s just expensive to accommodate the needs everywhere. But now they can buy a new wheelchair with gives you so much more freedom.
What is it?
A wheelchair which can adjust in to different situations, created years ago but then the costs came up to 25.000 dollars. Now they recreated it and made it better and less expensive. It’s called the iBOT and has for wheels which can be set in different positions.
Segway-inventer Dean Kamen would like to improve life for the elderly in Japan. His company, Deka Research, and Toyota now work together on the iBOT.
Sitting in an iBOT you can easily climb stairs or enter difficult terrain.
Why is it cool?
Older people are difficult to mobilize, to make it easy we can do two things. Everywhere customize the environment, often to the detriment of the nature. Or give the elderly resources. I think it’s better to give the elderly resources, because it gives them more freedom and intellectually. Those who have worked and sufferd for us. Are now getting in need of help. And by giving them an iBOT we will give them so much of their normal lives back!

Future growth potential
I think wheelchairs and robots will develop till points we would never dream of. Lives of disabled people of the elderly will become better and better by using new technology to give them back what thee miss. The iBOT will develop in like ways as more beautiful and more functional.
Trend
I think the iBOT plays a rol in the following trends: technologisation, individualism, sustainable cities, aging, the digital human and what’s? my way!.
Quality of Life
The iBOT effects the physical wellbeing and material wellbeing.
